A quando una funzione ‘aerosnap’ senza compiz e gli alias con il vecchio gnome tipo plumagedit?

Solo perchè, ad esempio, non pochi programmi o script cercano gedit anzichè pluma e si bloccano. Alcuni alias renderebbero tali script 100% compatibili con il vecchio gnome…
Ho appena installato linux mint 13 (Cinnamon version, ma ho installato anche MATE), ma ho subito notato che manca la Guest session (sessione ospite), molto comoda quando prestavo il pc ad amici, perchè non potevano sbirciare nella mia home / bookmarks etc.. e poi non salvava nulla…
Ora, dato che a quanto ho capito lavori come developer per Mate desktop, e il problema dovrebbe risiedere in MDM (Mate Desktop Manager), perchè non aggiungete la guest session?
Ciao, ho installato Mate DE su Ubuntu 12.04 seguendo alla lettera il Wiki. Ottimo Mate 1.4! Veramente performante a mio parere! Meriterebbe una derivata ufficiale su Ubuntu e una spin dedicata su Fedora. Anche Debian secondo me dovrebbe adottare Mate come desktop predefinito. Continuate così!

Perchè gli alias?

Ma poi i pacchetti di MATE andrebbero in conflitto con GNOME… L’opzione migliore è creare link simbolici manualmente…

MDM non è il Display Manager di MATE, ma è sviluppato da Linux Mint (https://github.com/linuxmint/mdm)

Ti volevo segnalare un baco per quanto riguarda il mio sistema una linux Mint 13 con MATE.
Se attivo compiz come window manager (sia modificando il setup di mateconf-editor –> desktop –> mate –> session –> required_components –> windowmanger compiz anziche’ il marco di default) che come startup script con compiz –replace ed attivando in ccsm –> Window decoration poi Move Window e Resize Window, al LOGOUT e LOGIN successivo lo schermo e` completamente illeggibile: sembra come quando su framebuffer e` sbagliato lo stride e cioe`il numero di bytes per pixel (che dovrebbe essere RGBA 24 oppure 32…) ed il passare il mouse (che e’ pero` corretto graficamente) non porta ad alcun refresh utile. I font della menu-bar sono pero` corretti…
Sto usando nouveau come driver Xorg, e non ho intenzione di passare ai driver proprietari nvidia. (ho una semplice NVIDIA 6200LE PCI-E) ecco il log di lspci -vv:
